Laser Etching
Although Dot Peen has been the go-to for many years, Laser marking or Laser etching has started to take over. lasers are quieter that Dot Peens and the limitations for lasers are much broader. Although Dot Peens are good for writing out serial numbers, lasers just stand out from the crowd. Their ability to do different types of tracking codes such as barcodes and QR codes are way more superior to the Dot Peens.
Dot Peen machines have mechanical contact between the machine and material which tends to make the stylus points deteriorate, leading to them being replaced.
Lasers, on the other hand, don’t require the amount of maintenance a Dot Peen may need. The laser markers are also faster with greater quality and resolution. Its high contrasting allows various barcode types and images.
